Behind the scenes with baby Alexander

I've always tried to put myself in the perspective of new parents coming into my studio for a new-born shoot and realise it must be a very exciting yet also a potentially daunting experience for a lot of new parents. I totally get it! You are just adjusting to this new role of being a parent, and aside from being completely exhausted, you are just getting to grips with feeding your baby, you may have just come through major surgery and you are coming into an environment where you may have never met the person who is going to be handling (posing) your baby for the next 2 - 3 hours, never mind the worry that your baby doesn't settle, peas or poos all over the backdrop or screams the place down for the next 3 hours (I have seen it all)! With all this in mind I have always considered blogging a behind the scenes, to basically give expectant parents a sense of what to expect and to put a face to the name, before they come for their new-born session. I also really wanted the passion I have for my work to come across in the photos as I genuinely love each and every new-born session I do.
When my sister was expecting her 2nd baby she kindly agreed (was gently persuaded) to do the behind the scenes photoshoot. Baby Alexander arrived on 9th September and he was just perfect. Between Alexander and his beautiful big sister Isabella I knew instantly I was going to capture some beautiful photos as a gift for my sister and brother in-law.
On the day of the shoot I was slightly more anxious than usual I suppose I'm just like every other woman out there who worries about flattering angles and the added pressure of someone watching and documenting my work was a bit daunting. However I couldn't have asked for a nicer girl to come into my house, meet my crazy family and photograph me at work. Ashley who is a photography student managed to capture the most natural photos of me in action. I actually forgot she was there the majority of the time as she was so subtle. I'm so pleased at how they have turned out and so excited to share these images with you all.
Any questions anyone has regarding the way I work or any general questions on how to go about booking a new born shoot, please ask away.
Thanks for reading. x
